Monteverdi 450

Ways to support the project

As a registered charity without public subsidy, we rely entirely on the generosity of our Individual, Corporate and Trust and Foundation supporters to continue our work now and in the future. However you wish to be involved, your contribution will be recognised and valued as part of a group of supporters who are crucial to sharing the work of Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras with the world.

“I do hope you will join me on this voyage of rediscovery – to experience quite how beautiful, poignantly human and modern these works are – and perhaps even helping me and my musical collaborators to realise this venture through your generosity.” Sir John Eliot Gardiner

Monteverdi 450th Anniversary Circle

We invite you to join the Monteverdi 450th Anniversary Circle to support our year-long celebration of Claudio Monteverdi’s birth in 2017.

The Monteverdi 450th Anniversary Circle is a group of philanthropic benefactors who have decided to make a significant financial commitment to support our highly anticipated tour of Monteverdi’s seminal works: his three surviving operas L’Orfeo, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria and L’incoronazione di Poppea, and his Vespers.

The Monteverdi 450 project will feature world-class singers and musicians, using authentic techniques and beautifully crafted period instruments, to bring these works to life with all the energy and brilliance for which the Monteverdi ensembles are renowned. Patrons of the Monteverdi 450th Anniversary Circle will take pride in the knowledge that their gift will help bring these prestigious projects to life.

“I’ve loved Monteverdi’s music forever, but it never spoke to me in such a visceral way until I heard John Eliot Gardiner’s Monteverdi Choir. When the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists perform, it is never just a concert. For them, the music truly lives and is vital to their lives – and we listen, and believe them, and are satisfied.” Judith Scheide, The New York Community Fund – The Scheide Fund
