Berlioz Cycle

Berlioz’s 150th anniversary in 2019 will be the culmination of a five year celebration of the composer’s work by the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras.

> 2014 saw Berlioz’s Le nuit d’été performed by the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique as part of their global 25th anniversary celebrations along with extracts from La Damnation de Faust, La Mort de Cléopâtre and La Captive.

> 2015 The composer’s renowned Symphonie Fantastique was performed at the BBC Proms with subsequent performances at Edinburgh Festival and Festival Berlioz in a programme that also included his dramatic Lélio.

> 2016 Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique performed Berlioz’s stunning Romeo et Juliet at the Festival Berlioz and BBC Proms.

> 2017 Monteverdi Choir and Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique will be performing Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust at the BBC Promsand Festival Berlioz.

> 2018 We will tour Berlioz' orchestral suite Harold in Italy and Prix de Rome Cantatas, at Carnegie Hall and other European venues.

>2019 Our Berlioz Cycle will culminate in performances of the opera Benvenuto Cellini, inspired by the memoirs of the eponymous Florentine sculptor.
